Your transmission may become completely unresponsive if it is failing. What we mean by this is that it will refuse to shift gears once it is in gear or it will refuse to go into gear. It’s important that you have your vehicle towed to our shop right away if the transmission is not responding.
3. Gear Shifting Trouble
Before the transmission becomes completely unresponsive, you may start having problems with the transmission shifting gears. Your transmission may slip out of gear, which causes significant power loss and high RPMs, or it may skip gears in the gear cycle.
4. Hot Transmission Odors

5. Shaking/Wobbling

6. Strange Noises
Strange sounds coming from the transmission, such as clunking, grinding, or humming, indicate a problem with the transmission. The only sound you should hear when the transmission shifts the gears is the difference in your engine’s RPMs. Other noises mean trouble.
7. Transmission Leak
Finally, if you have red fluid leaking onto your garage floor, your transmission has a leak. Transmission fluid can leak out of the seals or gaskets, the hoses, the transmission pan, and even the torque converter. A leaking transmission reduces the fluid levels in the transmission.
